There are always scam artists and spammers when something as big as the Haiti disaster occurs. Just like the trolls there are people that will take advantage of this disaster for personal gain or for attention getting reasons.

Not sure if the young woman in the article was a part of it or not but everyone should do their part in checking out fan pages and other sources before sharing it with their friends. Once you join the page it updates to your followers / community. It becomes your recommendation. It's like recommending a movie, a business or an app to a friend. If I wouldn't put my name on it I won't share it.
