"Borrowing" codes as it can be called is a ongoing debate to determine if it's a "crime" or not. It seems to be part of the practice among a few students. There are a lot of apps out here that are based on borrowed codes or those that have been bought, manipulated or given to new owners. Some of those code transfers has turned into millions of dollars and the foundation of large tech companies.

I don't think it's just the non CS students at lower levels that are doing this, as one student suggests, but cheating is not a phenomenon that is only relegated to CS students. However, the fact that it's reported happening at the place where the stereotype of the brightest tech gurus emerge, maybe there is hope that others that are classified among the non tech stereotypes might reconsider their options.
